RSHS Reveals Maggots Found in Head of Taufik Hidayat's Victim
The President Director of Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) Bandung, Rachim Dinata Marsidi, stated that YTR (29), the victim of an assault by Taufik Hidayat, was in a helpless state when she was brought to the hospital. A number of maggots were discovered in the victim’s head wound.
YTR arrived in the early hours at around 2:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time in a minibus. Her arrival at the RSHS Bandung emergency department was recorded on CCTV. A screenshot of the footage was displayed during a press conference held at the West Java Regional Police headquarters on Friday (26 June 2026).
‘When she arrived, it can be said that the wounds were quite numerous and there was a severe infection in the head area,’ said Rachim Dinata Marsidi, as quoted by detikJabar.
According to Rachim, maggots were even found in YTR’s head wound. ‘It can be said that there were maggots,’ he stated.
Upon discovering YTR’s alarming condition, the RSHS team immediately performed surgery on her head. ‘We promptly carried out an operation to clean these wounds and we found bacteria that were quite severe,’ Rachim explained.
‘From the 10th, for almost a week, after the cleaning was performed, we continued to eliminate the infection,’ he added.
Rachim mentioned that once the infection in YTR’s head has healed, the hospital will proceed with facial reconstruction for the victim.
‘The most severe damage is to the face, and this is planned to be done in stages, as it is called reconstruction. So it is not cosmetic surgery; this is about restoring the reconstruction so that it can approach normality. Perfection is very, very difficult. But we will try,’ he concluded.
