A team of 40 doctors at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung has been mobilised to reconstruct the face of Yuvita Tri Rezeki, a 29-year-old woman who sustained severe injuries allegedly inflicted by a suspect named Taufik Hidayat. RSHS President Director Dr Rachim Dinata Marsidi stated that the victim suffered extensive wounds to the head, which were heavily infected. A cleaning operation has already been performed, revealing significant bacterial infection. ‘The wounds are quite numerous and located on the head; it can be said that the infection is very severe. One could say there were already maggots,’ he said on Friday (26/6/2026). The hospital will tighten visitation rules, effectively banning all visitors, to minimise the risk of germs that could hinder the reconstruction process. ‘If there is an infection, it certainly will not heal. We have been working on this since the 10th, so for almost a week now, after cleaning we are focusing on reducing or eliminating the infection,’ he added. The most severe injuries are on the face, and reconstruction is planned to restore her appearance as closely as possible to her original features. ‘RS Hasan Sadikin has formed a team of 40 people to handle this patient, including internal medicine specialists, oral surgeons, plastic surgeons, psychiatrists, psychologists, and nutritionists,’ he said. The patient is currently suffering from malnutrition, so the medical team will first work to restore her physical condition to an ideal state before proceeding with the reconstruction. The process is expected to take more than three months. The hospital also noted that the victim has facial fractures requiring expensive implants and is committed to ensuring her care.
