RSCM dentists nab fake doctor

JAKARTA (JP): Several dentists at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital (RSCM) apprehended a man on Tuesday for posing as a psychologist and specialist in neurosurgery at the hospital.

One of the dentists, Enny, said she was suspicious of the man as he came to her to take artificial teeth three months after he had ordered them.

"It's not credible for an RSCM doctor to disappear for so long," Enny said.

During questioning at the Central Jakarta Police detective unit the man, whose real name is Ramsy Saetapi, said he was 47 years old. He claimed to have worked at four other hospitals in the capital, namely St. Carolus Hospital in Central Jakarta, Pondok Indah Hospital in South Jakarta and Pasar Rebo Hospital in East Jakarta since 1989.

Another dentist, Mita, said Ramsy had twice brought to her two patients who wanted to install tooth braces which both cost Rp 5 million. Mita claimed to have been hypnotized so that she met the order for free.

"Ramsy has also borrowed Rp 100,000 in cash from me twice," she said.

The man was clad in a doctor's white coat and carried a suitcase containing medical equipment when he was apprehended by the dentists and the hospital security guards at the radiology unit. (01)
