RSUP National Dr Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM) has revealed that the psychological condition of Andrie Yunus (27), Deputy External Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), is quite stable following a series of medical procedures due to trauma from chemical liquid.

“From a psychological perspective, the patient’s condition is monitored as quite stable. The patient is adapting well, behaving cooperatively during treatment, and showing realistic optimism towards the recovery process,” stated RSCM’s Public Relations Officer Sylvia in a press release on Wednesday (8/4).

She said that to date, no signs of serious psychological disturbances have been found.

The medical team, along with related professionals, is said to be providing routine psychological support, both to Andrie and his family, to ensure the recovery process is comprehensive.

“RSCM reaffirms its commitment to continue providing optimal, professional medical care that prioritises patient safety,” Sylvia said.

“We urge the public to remain calm and trust the medical team in handling this case,” she added.

Sylvia added that Andrie is still under monitoring by a multidisciplinary medical team consisting of plastic surgery specialists, ophthalmology, psychiatry, and other related healthcare personnel to ensure the recovery process runs optimally and continuously.

Overall, Andrie’s condition is said to be stable and showing gradual clinical improvement. The burns he sustained have seen significant improvement, with most wound areas treated through grafting or skin transplants.

On 7 April 2026, Andrie underwent surgery again to clean remaining dead skin tissue in the back neck area and further skin grafting to support optimal healing.

Meanwhile, regarding his eye condition, it is still in the advanced treatment stage.

The eyeball is covered using tissue membrane (tenon and conjunctiva), and temporary suturing of the eyelids is performed to protect the eyeball structure and accelerate the healing process.

Sylvia said ultrasound examination (USG) results show that the posterior wall of the eyeball is still intact.

“The plan for this eye closure will be carried out for approximately 4 to 6 months, with periodic evaluations using eye USG to monitor overall progress,” she emphasised.

Andrie Yunus was doused with acid about three weeks ago after speaking at a seminar at the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) office titled “Remilitarisation & Judicial Review of the TNI Law”.

The police once announced the initials of two suspects, but at the same time, the TNI also stated that it had detained four people from TNI BAIS as field perpetrators of the acid dousing against Andrie. They are NDP, SL, BHW, and ES.

Meanwhile, the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD), consisting of several civil society organisations, stated that the field perpetrators of the acid dousing against Andrie involved at least 16 people. TAUD described this as an intelligence operation.

Without a clear legal basis or reason, the police handed over the case handling to TNI Puspom. This has drawn criticism from many parties due to concerns that it will lead to impunity for military personnel.

Most recently, as of Tuesday (7/4) yesterday, TNI Puspom has forwarded the case file, evidence, and four acid dousing suspects to the Military Prosecutor II-07 Jakarta.
