RSUP National Dr Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM) has once again provided an update on the condition of Andrie Yunus (27), Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), who is undergoing treatment for an acid attack.

At present, according to official statements from RSCM, Andrie remains under the monitoring of a multidisciplinary medical team comprising plastic surgery specialists, ophthalmologists, psychiatrists, and other relevant healthcare professionals to ensure optimal and continuous recovery.

“Overall, the patient’s condition is currently stable and showing gradual clinical improvement. The burns sustained by the patient have seen significant progress, with most affected areas treated through skin grafting procedures,” stated RSCM via a release shared by spokesperson Sylvia on Wednesday (8/4).

On 7 April 2026, Andrie underwent further surgery to clean residual dead skin tissue from the back of his neck and additional skin grafting to support optimal healing.

Regarding his eye condition, it is still in the advanced treatment phase.

“The eyeball is covered using membrane tissue (Tenon’s capsule and conjunctiva), with temporary suturing of the eyelids to protect the eyeball structure and accelerate the healing process,” Sylvia explained.

Ultrasonography (USG) examination results indicate that the posterior wall of the eyeball remains intact.

The eye closure is planned to last approximately 4 to 6 months, with periodic evaluations using eye USG to comprehensively monitor progress.

From a psychological perspective, Sylvia noted that Andrie’s condition is adequately stable. He has adapted well, is cooperative in undergoing treatment, and displays realistic optimism towards his recovery.

To date, no signs of serious psychological disturbances have been found.

Sylvia added that the medical team, along with related professionals, continues to provide routine psychological support to both Andrie and his family to ensure comprehensive recovery.

“RSCM reaffirms its commitment to delivering optimal, professional medical care prioritising patient safety,” Sylvia said.

“We urge the public to remain calm and place their trust in the medical team handling this case,” she added.

Andrie Yunus was doused with acid around three weeks ago after speaking at a seminar at the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) office titled “Remilitarisation & Judicial Review of the TNI Law”.

Police initially announced the initials of two suspects, but at the same time, the TNI stated it had detained four individuals from TNI’s BAIS as the field perpetrators of the acid attack on Andrie. They are NDP, SL, BHW, and ES.

Meanwhile, the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD), comprising several civil society organisations, claims that the field perpetrators of the acid attack on Andrie involved at least 16 people. TAUD describes this as an intelligence operation.

Without clear legal basis or reason, police stated they were handing over the case to TNI military police. This has drawn criticism from many parties due to concerns it could lead to impunity for military personnel.

Most recently, as of Tuesday (7/4), TNI’s Central Military Police (Puspom TNI) has forwarded the case file, evidence, and the four acid attack suspects to the Military Prosecutor II-07 Jakarta.
