West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has announced a Rp750 million bounty for anyone who can locate Aman Yani, a resident of Indramayu Regency. The bounty was announced on his personal Instagram account when he met Aman Yani’s younger sibling. ‘I met the younger brother of Mr Aman Yani, who is currently absent today. Is his absence because he is not there, or because he cannot be seen, or perhaps he has died?’ Dedi said, quoted on Friday (22 May).

Who is Aman Yani?

The name rose to prominence after being named by one of the defendants as the mastermind behind the murder of a family in Paoman, Indramayu in August 2025. The murder claimed the lives of five people: Haji Sahroni (75), Budi (45), who was Sahroni’s son, Euis (40), Budi’s wife, RK (7) and B (8 months). Their bodies were found on 1 September 2025. Police subsequently arrested two suspects, Ririn Rifanto (36) and Priyo Bagus Setiawan (30). Later, in court, Priyo named four main perpetrators: Aman Yani, Joko, Yoga, and Hadi. However, Aman Yani’s involvement has been questioned, as he has been missing for years since 2016.

Background on Aman Yani’s disappearance

According to Detikjabar, in early May 2026, the family acted after Aman Yani was named as involved in the Paoman murder case. They reported the defendant Priyo Bagus Setiawan to Indramayu Police on Sunday (3 May) for obstruction of justice and for making baseless accusations.

Aman Yani’s family lawyer, Ruslandi, told the court that Priyo claimed there were four main perpetrators, with Aman Yani named as one of them. The family stressed the allegations were unfounded. Based on family records, Aman Yani last bade farewell to his mother in March 2016 to migrate to Bandung after resigning from a state-owned bank.

Ruslandi doubted the defendants’ claim that they had met Aman Yani in Kuliner Cimanuk, Indramayu, around August–September 2025 to plan the crime. ‘That fact contradicts the reality, because the family has been seeking the person for a long time, even sharing information about the missing person on social media since 2020,’ Ruslandi said.

Aman Yani’s sister, Uyat Suratman, revealed a string of oddities since his disappearance. She said she was once asked by someone to pretend to be Aman Yani to access his pension, including being asked to forge a power of attorney.

In 2018, the family reportedly received a message from someone claiming to be Aman Yani’s lawyer. However, the mysterious figure never appeared or communicated directly.

In a post by Dedi showing a photo of Aman Yani, he described the man as mysterious and urged him to return home because his pension had been withdrawn by a lawyer named Khotibul under the direction of Ririn. According to Dedi, Aman Yani’s signature was used to withdraw the pension even though the person who withdrew it never met Aman Yani.

‘First, whether Mr Aman Yani is still in Indonesia or abroad, you know there is already acknowledgement from Khotibul’s lawyer that the pension was taken by Ririn and the acknowledgement bears the grantor’s signature,’ Dedi said. ‘Even though the grantor and the attorney never met, this is the strangest event.’

Dedi pledged to reimburse the pension money amounting to Rp750 million if Aman Yani is alive and returns to Indramayu to meet his wife, children, and family, even though his wife is now his ex-wife. The money would also be awarded to anyone who can bring Aman Yani home. ‘Return to Indramayu to meet his wife, his children, and the family, even if his wife has become a former wife,’ he said.
