Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, has urged that zakat funds collected through BAZNAS (Bazis) DKI Jakarta be distributed to residents in need, emphasising that the funds of the ummah must return to the community, especially to vulnerable groups in the capital. He voiced the view during Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah (ZIS) fulfilment for Ramadan by officials and leaders of state-owned enterprises (BUMD) within the Jakarta provincial government at City Hall on Thursday (5/3). He argued that proper governance strengthens public trust in zakat management and that Ramadan is a key moment to reinforce social care and to heighten piety via ZIS. In 2026, the Jakarta Provincial Government targets ZIS collection of Rp450 billion, aiming to broaden the reach of mustahik and strengthen programmes for the economic empowerment of the umat so that its benefits are felt by those in need. “This target is expected to broaden the reach of mustahik and to reinforce various programmes for the economic empowerment of the umat, so that the benefits are felt directly by those in need,” Pramono said. Ahmad H. Abu Bakar, Chairman of BAZNAS (Bazis) DKI Jakarta, reported that from January to December 2025, ZIS collection reached Rp396.356 billion, or about 99.09% of the Rp400 billion target, with Rp147.850 billion coming from the Regional Performance Allowance (TKD) and Rp248.505 billion from non-TKD. In addition to collecting umat funds, Baznas DKI Jakarta disbursed ZIS funds in 2025 amounting to Rp387.688 billion through various social programmes, including: dakwah programme – Rp127.773 billion; economic programme – Rp3.419 billion; health programme – Rp2.021 billion; education programme – Rp34.412 billion; humanitarian programme – Rp220.061 billion. Data from the Jakarta Provincial Government shows that of 61,045 Muslim civil servants in SKPD and UKPD, 45,886 (about 75%) have fulfilled ZIS, while 15,159 (about 25%) have not fulfilled this obligation. For 2026, the target for ZIS collection is Rp450 billion, via Governor’s Decree No. 1 of 2026, comprising Rp163.250 billion from TKD and Rp286.750 billion from non-TKD. During the event, Baznas DKI Jakarta also noted CSR contributions from several BUMDs, with PAM Jaya the largest at Rp2.478 billion. Baznas DKI also proposed that the Provincial Government issue a Governor’s Instruction on 2.5% professional zakat for all employees of BUMD within the Jakarta Provincial Government, as already applied to civil servants. “We seek the Governor’s support to issue the Governor’s Instruction on 2.5% professional zakat for all BUMD employees,” Akhmad said. (E-4) This initiative represents a tangible step in turning interfaith solidarity into concrete action to address humanitarian issues in Indonesia through collaboration.
