More than US$2.2 billion (Rp38 trillion) was almost stolen by cybercriminals, according to data Apple released for 2025. Apple says it prevented funds deemed potentially fraudulent, citing 9to5Mac on Thursday, 21 May 2026. From the same data, Apple said criminals were prevented from distributing malicious software. The company blocked more than 2 million problematic app submissions. Apple systems also blocked 1.1 billion attempts to create fake customer accounts. Meanwhile, 40.4 million customer accounts were disabled due to fraud and abuse. Apple closed 193,000 developer accounts amid fraud concerns, and more than 138,000 developer registrations were rejected. In addition, 28,000 illegal apps were blocked from pirate app stores, containing malware, pornographic apps, gambling apps, and fake App Stores. App Review evaluated 9.1 million app submissions. Apple also removed nearly 59,000 apps involved in financial fraud. More than 22,000 submissions were rejected for hidden or undocumented features. Over 371,000 submissions imitated apps, spam or misled; and more than 443,000 submissions were said to violate app policies. Apple also blocked almost 195 million fake ratings and reviews. The company said it would continue its prevention efforts as crime evolves. “As the digital landscape expands, criminals continue to develop their methods, often using fraud tactics targeting consumers and legitimate businesses. To meet the challenge, Apple continues to strengthen its layered defence, combining human expert reviews and advanced machine-learning technology to detect and halt harmful activity,” Apple explained.
