Rp2.7 Trillion Pipeline Project in Java Officially Operational, Here Are Its Gas Buyers
Batang, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has confirmed that Phase II of the Cirebon-Semarang Natural Gas Transmission Pipeline (Cisem) is ready for operation after undergoing a series of technical tests.
In line with this, the Director General of Oil and Natural Gas at the Ministry of ESDM, Laode Sulaiman, stated that several industries have expressed readiness to utilise the gas supply from this infrastructure, including Balongan Refinery and PT Cikarang Listrindo.
“There are already some preliminary commitments from Balongan Refinery and information that Cikarang Listrindo and several other industries will utilise this pipeline route,” said Laode at KIT Batang, Central Java, on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
Laode said that the test results show the pipeline is in optimal condition with no leaks. Thus, this project with an investment value of Rp2.7 trillion is ready to function to deliver gas to consumers in the western part of Java.
“Alhamdulillah, the test results found no leaks, so the pipeline can function well. And this is ready for us to deliver gas to consumers who need it in the western Java region later,” said Laode.
For information, Phase II of the Cisem project has a length of around 242 kilometres and is part of the National Strategic Project (PSN). Construction began on 6 August 2024 until 5 March 2026, with a total of 4.65 million safe working hours.
From an economic impact perspective, the project absorbed up to 1,981 workers at peak construction and recorded a domestic component level (TKDN) of 60.58%.
Management of Phase II of the Cisem pipeline is assigned to LEMIGAS based on Ministerial Decree No. 125.K/MG.01/MEM.M/2026. Going forward, LEMIGAS will collaborate with partners to optimise the utilisation of these assets. The gas supply source for this pipeline comes from the Jambaran Tiung Biru Field (JTB).
