RP volcano rains ash on villages
MANILA (Reuter): A Philippine volcano showered six villages
with ash after an earthquake shook the mountain for 14 minutes
but there were no casualties, scientists said yesterday.
Mount Bulosan in Sorsogon province, 250 kilometers southeast
of Manila, rumbled back to life on Monday night, forcing
volcanologists to declare a radius of four kilometers from its
crater off-limits to people.
The 1,559-meter high mountain, one of about 20 active Filipino
volcanoes, last erupted in 1988, again without causing
casualties.
