PHILIPPINES: Filipino investigators will fly to Indonesia to
interview a detained militant who allegedly received terrorist
training at a rebel camp in the southern Philippines, police said
on Wednesday.
The Indonesian suspect, who goes by the single name of
Mustaqim and allegedly has links with Jamaah Islamiyah (JI), was
among seven people arrested by Indonesian antiterror police in
the central Java town of Sukoharjo on June 30.
Indonesian investigators suspect that Mustaqim had trained in
Camp Abubakar, a former Filipino Muslim separatist guerrilla
stronghold on Mindanao island, police Chief Superintendent Ismael
Rafanan said.
"We were informed by our Indonesian counterparts that they
have arrested him," the national police intelligence commander
told reporters.
"Our investigators are going there because we don't have an
existing repatriation treaty with Indonesia for his return here,"
Rafanan said. --AFP
