RP to hold rice conference

MANILA (AFP): About 500 scientists from 30 countries are
expected to attend an international symposium on rice genetics to
be held here later this month, it was announced yesterday.

The Philippine-based International Rice Research Institute
(IRRI) says it will host the symposium to be held from Oct. 16 to
20 in the capital Manila.

Among the topics to be discussed at the conference are the
latest developments in rice genetics and a patent workshop
covering new developments in biotechnology.
