PHILIPPINES: Philippine Foreign Minister Delia Albert left on Tuesday to attend regional anti-terrorism talks in Bali, the Indonesian resort island hit by deadly bombings in 2002.
The trip is part of Albert's five-day official visit to Indonesia. She is also scheduled to visit Singapore later this week, the foreign office said.
Albert is expected to share the Philippines' experience in fighting Moro separatists linked to terrorist groups like Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) and al-Qaeda.
"The countries in East Asia have recognized fully the dangers posed by terrorism to their economies and to regional stability and are taking concrete (steps) to confront this scourge," Albert said in a statement.
She said governments in the region were sharing information against terrorist groups and "upgrading expertise of their law enforcement agencies." --AFP
