RP targets Asia, Europe job markets

MANILA (AFP): The Philippines hopes to deploy more of its
workers to Asia and Europe, Philippine Labor Secretary Bienvenido
Laguesma said on Monday.

Laguesma however stressed that this is only a temporary
measure while the government looks for ways to generate more work
for them within the Philippines and encourage those abroad to
return home.

More than six million Filipinos are believed to be working
overseas, many of them as laborers, seamen and domestic helpers.
