RP, S'pore begin military exercises
SINGAPORE (AFP): The armed forces of the Philippines and Singapore yesterday began their first bilateral training exercise here under an agreement signed last week.
A ministry of defense statement said that the week-long exercise, code-named "Anoa-Singa 2/94," followed an agreement signed on May 5 to provide for regular military exercises between the armed forces of the two countries.
About 800 officers and men, 600 from Singapore and 200 from the Philippines are taking part in the exercise due to end Wednesday. The Philippines troops arrived last Friday.
