RP seeks Israeli water know-how
MANILA (AFP): The Philippines has called on Israel to help it
boost agriculture through using Israeli know-how in boosting
vital water resources.
Philippine House Speaker Jose de Venecia urged his visiting
Israeli counterpart Dan Tichon late Monday to work for a
Philippine-Israeli joint venture to produce Israeli agricultural
technology in this country.
"Your success in making the desert bloom, in developing your
water resources ... is a story mankind will never forget," de
Venecia said.
He said such technology, particularly drip-irrigation
pioneered by Israel, would be useful here, "in the face of El
Nio" and the Philippines' continuing attempts to boost
agricultural productivity.
