RP painter shows classic works

JAKARTA (JP): Filipino painter Linda Marie Tabios will display some of her classic oriental works in a one-day exhibition at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on Monday.

A presentation by Director General of Culture Edi Sedyawati will be held at 6:30 p.m., said cultural officer Gloria L. Tablico from the Philippines Embassy yesterday.

Tablico said the exhibition at the Krakatau room, sponsored by the embassy, will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The art work on display will include flowers of Indonesia, Byzantine religious icons, Chinese landscapes and paintings on stone.

All proceeds will be donated to the Indonesian Skills Foundation, a cooperative partnership to assist in the development of vocational skills in Indonesia.

Tabios currently works as a technical advisor for a private bank and lives in Jakarta. (bsr)
