RP grenade blast injures over 30
MANILA (AP): A grenade explosion caused a stampede and injured
more than 30 people in a crowded public market in Manila on
Wednesday night, police said.
Police said the blast in the Divisoria market followed a
quarrel among several men, including vendors.
The injured, which included a number of shoppers, were hit by
shrapnel or hurt during the stampede, police said.
The blast occurred amid heightening concern over a series of
recent grenade explosions, believed to be by Muslim separatists,
which have killed scores of people on the southern island of
Mindanao.
