RP exports up 4.1% in January

MANILA: Philippines merchandise exports rose in January by 4.1
percent from a year earlier to US$2.84 billion, the government
said on Thursday.

The January figure marks a slowdown from the 9.0 percent year-
on-year growth in December 2003 exports, which totaled $3.176
billion.

The National Statistics Office reported that electronic
exports, which accounted for 67.8 percent of total receipts in
January, rose 1.2 percent from a year earlier to $1.93 billion.

December electronic exports rose 6.9 percent year-on-year to
$2.06 billion.--AFP
