RP exports up 12.3% in October

MANILA: Philippine exports rose 12.3 percent from a year
earlier to US$3.751 billion in October spurred by increased
electronics shipments, the country's top product line, the
government said on Friday.

The figure represented a substantial pickup from the 8.4
percent expansion in September, and brought the year-to-date
value of shipments up by 8.9 percent to US$32.643 billion, the
National Statistics Office said in a statement.

Manila is aiming for a 10 percent growth in export revenue
this year.

Electronics exports in October rose 13.2 percent from a year
earlier to $2.635 billion. The sector accounted for 70.2 percent
of all shipments for the month.-- AFP
