RP deports two Jordanians
PHILIPPINES: Philippine immigration officials deported on Friday
two Jordanian men suspected of having links to terrorists after
failing to find enough evidence to prosecute them.
Mohammad Amin Al-Ghafari and Ahmad Abellatif Jubran were
escorted by an immigration officer back to Amman, Jordan, on
board a Gulf Air flight.
Immigration Commissioner Andrea Domingo said in a statement
the two men were deported for being undocumented aliens.
Although there were allegations that the Jordanians had ties
to terrorist groups, the immigration bureau decided it could not
hold them because no criminal charges were filed against them in
court, she said.
The two, arrested separately, have been placed on a blacklist
to prevent them from reentering the country, Domingo added. --AP
