RP debt at $68.93 billion

MANILA: The Philippine government's outstanding debt reached
3.867 trillion pesos (US$68.93 billion) in April, including
$32.14 billion owed to foreign creditors, the central bank said
on Tuesday.

Domestic debt rose 0.23 percent over the previous month to
2.064 trillion pesos due to net issues of government securities,
while the foreign debt declined by about seven billion pesos due
to the peso's net appreciation against the dollar and the
repayment of various loans.

Manila's total debt excludes guarantees worth 598 billion
pesos on securities issued by state-run firms like National Power
Corp. -- AFP
