MANILA (AFP): Philippine foreign secretary Domingo Siazon
cautioned China yesterday against any move to install satellite
facilities on a reef in the disputed Spratly islands.
Siazon told reporters he had heard about an announcement by
Beijing to set up a ground satellite station on an island in the
Paracels, which China occupied in 1995.
"If it is in the Mischief Reef, which we're claiming, then we
would consider that not in keeping with our code of conduct,
(with) the status quo," he said.
"All of these movements can be seen by those who have ships.
The United States satellites (also see them). Information is
shared," he added.
