RP arrests another terror suspect
PHILIPPINES: The Philippine military said it arrested on Monday a
local Muslim man believed to be the courier of an Indonesian
detained in Manila for possible links to Saudi militant Osama bin
Laden's al-Qaeda network.
The arrest brought to five the number of people apprehended in
the Philippines since last week for alleged links with the
network.
The latest suspect was arrested in the commercial district of
Marawi city on southern Mindanao island and is being interrogated
at army headquarters in the area, Lt. Col. Jose Mabanta said.
Mabanta said the man was "one of the couriers and runners" of
a suspected leader of the militant Islamic group Jemaah Islamiah,
who is believed to be an Indonesian and who was himself arrested
in Manila last week. --Reuters
