RP air force chief honored in S'pore

SINGAPORE (AP): Philippines air force chief Lt. Gen. Willie
Florendo was awarded honorary Singapore air force wings during a
ceremony on Thursday, officials said.

The award was in recognition of Florendo's efforts to
strengthen the "warm friendship and cooperation" between the two
air forces, Singapore's Defense Ministry said in a statement.

"Honorary wings are the highest award that the Republic of
Singapore Air Force gives to foreign dignitaries," ministry
spokesman Tracy Won said.

Florendo was on an introductory visit to Singapore Wednesday
and Thursday.

Members of the Singapore and Philippines armed forces hold
regular exchange visits and attend each other's courses, the
Singapore Defense Ministry statement said.
