RP actor woos Muslim voters

PHILIPPINES: Philippine film star Fernando Poe Jr. took his
campaign for the presidency south on Wednesday, hoping to revive
his fortunes after talks with a rival failed to forge a united
front against the incumbent.

Thousands of adoring Muslim supporters waited hours in the
blazing sun for a glimpse of the action movie hero, who has
slipped to second place in opinion polls, behind President Gloria
Macapagal Arroyo, as the clock ticks down to elections on May 10.

Poe met rival Panfilo Lacson, a former national police chief,
on Tuesday night at a common friend's house in Manila but they
could agree only on pooling resources to fight election fraud.
