Rp 800m robber shot in Cepu

SEMARANG: One of the four criminals who attempted to snatch Rp 800 million from employees of the state-owned forestry company PT Perhutani in Cepu, Blora regency, was shot dead by the local police.

The criminal, identified as Hari Prayogo, 35, of Kemloko Legi, Baron district, Nganjuk regency, East Java, was shot when he along three others tried to rob the Perhutani employees who were entering their office in the town on Wednesday.

Adj. Sr. Comr. Djoko Purbo Susanto, chief of the Blora Police Precinct, said on Thursday the three other crooks escaped.

He said the robbery could be foiled after the car which carried the Perhutani's employees, stopped and, then, hit the robbers and their motorcyles.

Police are now pursuing the other three criminals, Djoko said. --Antara
