Rp 70m to overcome water shortage

PURWOKERTO, Central Java: At least nine regencies in Central Java have received a total of Rp 70 million from the provincial administration to overcome water shortage caused by prolonged drought.

Central Java Coordinator for Clean Water Program chairman Bambang Mardiyanto said that Cilacap regency, which suffered most during the drought, would receive Rp 35 million. Cilacap needs at least 185,000 liters of clean water everyday.

Purbalingga regency will receive Rp 21 million, and other regencies like Banyumas, Banjarnegara, Tegal, Pekalongan, Pemalang, Batang, Brebes get a total of Rp 14 million, he said. --JP
