JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has channelled more than Rp 700 billion in disaster social assistance to communities affected by disasters in Sumatra.

Currently, additional assistance amounting to Rp 218 billion is still in the process of being distributed to tens of thousands of beneficiaries.

“From that amount, more than Rp 700 billion has already been channelled, and the remainder of around Rp 218 billion is being processed,” said Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

Furthermore, the approximately Rp 218 billion is still in process for 67,000 beneficiary families (KPM) and around 270,000 recipients of living needs assistance (jadup) provided per individual.

Overall, Kemensos has prepared a budget of more than Rp 2 trillion for disaster handling in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

The funds are ready to be channelled once the beneficiary data is declared valid and submitted to the Ministry of Finance.

“So this is continuously being processed, Insyaallah, hopefully if the data comes in, we will propose it again for the next phase of distribution,” he said.

After the emergency period, Kemensos channels death benefits of Rp 15 million per heir and Rp 5 million for victims with severe injuries.

In addition, there is housing restocking assistance of Rp 3 million per family, economic stimulus assistance of Rp 5 million per family, as well as living needs assistance (jadup) of Rp 450,000 per person per month for three months.

“Therefore, in channelling this, we must remain prudent, remain careful, must use valid data, but we also want it to be quick,” said Gus Ipul.
