The National Food Agency is targeting the implementation of the corn livestock feed supply and price stabilisation programme (SPHP) this month. “The SPHP programme for livestock feed corn is being urgently prepared. The budget is ready,” said Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilisation of the National Food Agency, I Gusti Ketut Astawa, in a written statement on Sunday, 5 April 2026. Ketut explained that the government has allocated 242,000 tonnes of government corn reserves for the SPHP livestock feed corn programme. For this year’s SPHP livestock feed corn programme, the government has prepared a budget of Rp 678 billion. He stated that the government is currently finalising data on recipient farmers for the SPHP corn. Recipients of the SPHP livestock feed corn programme are determined through joint verification between the National Food Agency, the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health, and the Directorate General of Food Crops of the Ministry of Agriculture. He targets the SPHP livestock feed corn programme to run this month. Thus, it is hoped that prices of poultry products such as eggs and chicken meat can stabilise. The distribution of SPHP livestock feed corn is more focused on regions that are not corn production centres and/or regions not entering the main harvest season. Previously, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) calculated total production of dry shelled corn with 14 percent moisture content throughout 2025 at 16.16 million tonnes. Meanwhile, national consumption needs in 2025 are at 15.23 million tonnes, leaving a surplus of 0.93 million tonnes. Meanwhile, the realisation of domestic corn procurement up to 2 April reached 125,200 tonnes or 123.9 percent compared to the 2025 procurement realisation. The National Food Agency records the current national corn reserve stock at 168,000 tonnes. This year, the government has tasked Perum Bulog with purchasing 1 million tonnes of farmers’ corn in accordance with Presidential Instruction Number 3 of 2026 on Domestic Corn Procurement and Management as well as Distribution of Government Corn Reserves for 2026-2029. Perum Bulog will purchase corn at the government purchase price (HPP) of Rp 5,500 per kilogram with criteria for corn that has reached harvest age and moisture content of 18-20 percent.
