Rp 5.4b for training civilian police
JAKARTA: The city administration has allocated a whopping Rp 5.4 billion this year to provide training for its civilian police assistants.
Newly appointed head of the City Public Order Agency Soebagio said the expensive training was part of administration efforts to boost the capability of its assistants.
"We will also recruit new assistants gradually this year to complement the existing 3,000 public order officers," said Soebagio.
The recruitment of new police assistants comes hot on the heels of an incident last weekend in which a woman was raped by two police assistants in the Central Jakarta Municipality office.
Commenting on the incident, Soebagio merely said, "We have dismissed them." --JP
