Rp 543 Billion in Aid to Be Disbursed for Flood Victims in Sumatra
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The government will channel housing completion assistance of Rp 3 million and the Bantuan Stimulan Sosial Ekonomi (BSSE) of Rp 5 million to 67,886 affected households (KPM) in Sumatra. Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, said the government is disbursing more than Rp 543 billion to channel these two forms of aid through PT Pos Indonesia. ‘The families will receive the two types of assistance: the housing completion and BSSE. The total required budget is Rp 543,088,000,000,’ he said at a press conference at the Ministry of Social Affairs in Central Jakarta on Thursday (5/3/2026). ‘Based on data from the Ministry of Interior (Kemendagri), there are 67,886 beneficiary families or KPM that have been verified,’ he added. Because they have been verified, the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) is working with PT Pos Indonesia to distribute the aid through three channels. ‘We will do it in three ways: payments at post offices, payments in the community, at village/ward offices (in Aceh, at kelurahan offices, at kecamatan offices),’ said Haris, Acting President Director of PT POS Indonesia. Haris explained that the distribution process for housing completion assistance and BSSE is targeted to be completed by 15 March 2026. ‘We received this assignment and we are preparing well to disburse it as with previous disbursements. We target that by the 15th everything will be finished,’ he said.
