Rp 1.4t funds allotted for health safety net

SEMARANG, Central Java: The government has allocated funds
worth Rp 1.4 trillion for the health safety net program, Health
Minister Farid Anfasa Moeloek said on Thursday.

"The program aims at providing health services to the needy
with priority being given to pregnant women and children aged
below two years," the minister said in a written address read by
the provincial administration's secretary, Hendrawan, during the
celebration of the 34th National Health Day.

The program, he said, will also provide a six-month daily food
subsidy of Rp 750 to children aged below two years and a similar
subsidy of Rp 1,000 for each pregnant woman, Antara reported.

The program aims to prevent the country's babies from being
affected by the impact of the prolonged economic crisis, he said.

Moeloek noted that the funds will be directly transferred to
community health centers across the country through the state
postal company PT Pos Indonesia.
