Rp 100.1 trillion allocated for Sumatra's post-flood recovery

Jakarta, Kompas.com - The government and House of Representatives have agreed to allocate Rp 100.1 trillion for post-flood recovery in Sumatra. The region is gradually healing.

A coordination meeting was held at the DPR building in Jakarta on Monday, 25 May 2026, led by Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, chair of the House of Representatives’ Post disaster Recovery Task Force.

Tito Karnavian, chair of the Sumatra Post disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force, stated: ‘The total budget we proposed, which has been approved by the government and subsequently endorsed by the House task force led by Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, amounts to Rp 100.166 trillion over three years,’ on 25 May 2026.

Breakdowns include Rp 38.9 trillion for 2026, Rp 32.9 trillion for 2027, and Rp 28.2 trillion in 2028. Tito said the funds will be distributed to relevant ministries and agencies.

The largest portion, approximately Rp 69 trillion over three years (including Rp 22 trillion this year), will go to infrastructure under the Ministry of Public Works to expedite physical repairs in disaster-affected areas.

Additionally, the government allocated Rp 7.4 trillion over two years for permanent housing, managed by the Ministry of Housing and Settlements.

In total, the budget will fund around 11,512 projects, including road and bridge rehabilitation, school and health facility repairs, and residential areas, all implemented according to Bappenas-approved master plans.
