Rp 1.9 Billion to 53.8 Million Dong Seized from 321 Foreign Nationals in Hayam Wuruk
Director of General Criminal Crimes at National Police Headquarters, Brigadier General Wira Satya Triputra, stated during a press conference at the arrest site in the Hayam Wuruk area, West Jakarta, on Saturday (9/5/2026), that the seized rupiah amounted to Rp 1.9 billion.
“The actual amount of money has already been identified, including rupiah. There are various currencies. We may provide further details later,” Wira said.
The seized dollars totalled 10,210, though the country of origin for these dollars is not yet known. In addition to rupiah and dollars, the police also confiscated 53.82 million dong.
“But certainly, the rupiah is estimated at around Rp 1.9 billion something. Then, in terms of denominations, there is Vietnamese money of 53.82 million, and dollars amounting to 10,210, from the money we successfully seized,” Wira explained.
Previously reported, the 321 foreign nationals consisted of 57 Chinese nationals, 228 Vietnamese nationals, 11 Laotian nationals, 13 Myanmar nationals, 3 Malaysian nationals, 5 Thai nationals, and 3 Cambodian nationals. The perpetrators were caught red-handed while conducting online gambling.
“We caught the perpetrators red-handed, meaning they were in the midst of operational activities or online gambling operations,” he said.
In this enforcement action, the police uncovered a structured online gambling operation utilising cross-border electronic facilities and conducted digitally. Various pieces of evidence were also secured, including safes, passports, mobile phones, laptops, desktop computers, and cash in various currencies.
