Rp 1.12 Trillion Investment from Packaging Factory Enters Kendal SEZ, Absorbing 1,000 Workers
PT Hoi Fu Paper Packaging is building a packaging factory in the Kendal Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Central Java. The investment value reaches Rp 1.12 trillion. This project is projected to absorb 1,000 workers. Approximately 95 percent will come from local labour. The absorption of workers will be done in stages. The first stage: 300 workers, the second stage: 500 workers, and the third stage: 200 workers. “The presence of this industry also has the potential to open up expansions in indirect employment opportunities, especially in supporting sectors such as logistics and SMEs,” said Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday. The absorption of workers has been recorded at 117,941 people. This figure shows the rapid growth of the industrial zone. This performance drives the economy of Kendal Regency. Growth reaches 9 percent annually. The contribution of the SEZ to the Regional Gross Domestic Product (PDRB) of the area reaches 24.33 percent. “Amid increasingly complex global conflicts and dynamics, President Prabowo Subianto directs the government not only to support but also to actively monitor and guide investments to strengthen national economic growth,” said Susiwijono. This figure reflects that investments are able to produce optimal economic output. The realisation of investments in Kendal is the highest in Central Java.
