Royalist party adviser shot, wounded
CAMBODIA: A prominent member of Cambodia's royalist Funcinpec
party was shot and wounded by an unidentified gunman on Tuesday,
witnesses said.
Om Radsady, 50, adviser to Prince Norodom Ranariddh, had just
finished lunch with friends when two men on a motorcycle drove
up, and the pillion rider shot at him with a pistol before they
made their getaway, the witnesses said.
He was taken to Phnom Penh's Calmette Hospital, where he was
operated on for a bullet wound to his leg. Neither police nor
party members knew of any possible motive for the shooting.
Although the motive for the attack remains unknown, it is
bound to fuel concern about the possibility of violence in the
run-up to July's general election. --AP
