Roy Suryo's Shock at Seeing Former Lawyer Appear in Jokowi Diploma Lawsuit Hearing

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The hearing for the citizen lawsuit filed by a retired Indonesian National Army (TNI) officer was also attended by the intervening party on Monday (13/4/2026). However, up to the second day of the hearing, the intervening defendant had not completed the court documents requested by the Panel of Judges at the South Jakarta District Court. The intervening defendant is Pitra Romadoni, a legal practitioner who was once Roy Suryo’s lawyer. This situation surprised Roy Suryo and the plaintiffs, who questioned the presence of this third party. On his right side, there were two representatives from the Metro Jaya Police Legal Bureau. On his left side, two lawyers for the citizen lawsuit sat. When the panel of judges requested the submission of court documents, it was revealed that Pitra was the third party as the prospective Intervening Defendant. Consequently, the presence of this third party became a question for the plaintiffs. “Well, actually, what is the connection of this intervening defendant? Yes, we are also confused, but it’s fine, that’s the right of the intervening defendant, it’s perfectly valid,” said Yasena when met at the South Jakarta District Court on Monday. Moreover, Pitra’s side only processed the power of attorney letter that day, so they could not submit the documents to the panel of judges. This prompted Yasena to intend to file an objection with the South Jakarta District Court regarding the presence of the intervening party. Therefore, Roy also attended the hearing. He sat in the red chair placed on the side of the spectator bench. Roy admitted he was shocked to see Pitra attending since the first hearing agenda last week, on Monday (6/4/2026). “I was also shocked when suddenly on the first day, someone named the intervening defendant appeared. Even though my friends who are suing, I shook hands earlier and knew who one of them was, named Pitra Romadoni,” he said. Roy also highlighted Pitra’s side for not completing the court documents. According to him, given his track record, Pitra should have prepared those documents before entering the courtroom. As a result, the panel of judges postponed the hearing again.
