Roy Suryo's Second Pre-trial Verdict Scheduled for 20 July 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta District Court has scheduled the verdict in the second pretrial hearing of Roy Suryo, a suspect in a case of alleged defamation concerning the authenticity of the diploma of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), for Monday, 20 July 2026.
“The verdict will be read out on 20 July,” said South Jakarta District Court Judge I Ketut Darpawan during the reading of the petitum of Roy Suryo’s pretrial motion at the South Jakarta District Court on Friday.
He said that on Monday, 13 July 2026, at 09.00 WIB, the respondent’s answer would be heard, with the reply and rejoinder to be held on the same day if possible.
The petitioner and respondent were asked to arrive on time according to the scheduled agenda.
“Please be punctual, because if we are late, the other hearings will also be delayed. We start at 09.00 WIB,” said Ketut.
The petitioner’s evidence will be presented on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, followed by the respondent’s evidence on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, with concluding arguments scheduled for Thursday, 16 July 2026.
“Friday will be a break. We need time for deliberation and to draft the verdict,” Ketut explained.
The second pretrial hearing of Roy Suryo is presided over by sole judge I Ketut Darpawan.
Previously, sole judge I Ketut Darpawan of the South Jakarta District Court granted part of Roy Suryo’s pretrial motion by declaring the search, arrest and detention carried out by the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police unlawful.
However, the judge rejected Roy’s request for the case file to be declared invalid, as well as his request that the public prosecutor be barred from issuing a detention order, on the grounds that these fell outside the jurisdiction of a pretrial hearing.
