Roy Suryo's Pretrial Hearing: Metro Jaya Police Present Criminal Law Expert

The South Jakarta District Court resumed the pretrial hearing filed by Roy Suryo on Wednesday, with the Metro Jaya Police presenting a criminal law expert to support their case. The session, led by sole judge I Ketut Darpawan, saw Roy Suryo attend in person alongside his legal team to face representatives from the police’s Legal Division and the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office.

During the hearing, the police presented criminal law expert Prof. Dr. Erdianto Effendi to provide testimony aimed at strengthening the argument that the naming of Roy Suryo as a suspect was legally sound. This move came after Roy Suryo’s legal team had previously submitted evidence and presented three witnesses and one expert during their own evidentiary session.

In his petition, Roy Suryo is requesting that the judge declare the suspect designation against him invalid. He is also seeking the annulment of three Investigation Orders issued by Metro Jaya Police investigators in connection with the case. The case revolves around allegations of spreading false information regarding a diploma, which implicated former President Joko Widodo.

The judge is scheduled to deliver the final ruling next Tuesday after receiving concluding documents from both the applicant and the respondent.
