Roy Suryo's Pre-Trial Petition Partially Granted, Awarded Rp5 Million in Compensation

Sole judge of the South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel), I Ketut Darpawan, partially granted the pre-trial petition filed by Roy Suryo concerning a request for compensation.

“Granting the petitioner’s pre-trial petition in part,” said Ketut during the hearing at the South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (15/9).

“Secondly, awarding immaterial compensation to the petitioner in the amount of Rp5 million,” he continued.

Previously, Roy had also filed a pre-trial petition seeking compensation. However, the judge declared that petition inadmissible.

In its consideration, the judge explained that, based on the prevailing provisions, the party authorised to make compensation payments is the Minister of Finance. However, in his petition, Roy Suryo had not included the Minister of Finance as a relevant party.

“Considering that the Minister of Finance was not included as a party, this petition contains a formal defect due to the absence of a necessary party,” the judge said at a hearing some time ago.

“Accordingly, it is fitting that the petitioner’s petition be declared inadmissible,” the judge continued.
