Roy Suryo's First Pretrial Hearing Scheduled for 29 June

The South Jakarta District Court has scheduled the first pretrial hearing for Roy Suryo, a suspect in a defamation and slander case related to the authenticity of former President Joko Widodo’s diploma, for Monday, 29 June 2026, at 09:00 WIB. The hearing will be chaired by single judge I Ketut Darpawan. South Jakarta District Court spokesperson Halida Rahardhini confirmed the registration of the pretrial motion filed by Roy Suryo. Suryo’s legal counsel, Ahmad Khozinudin, stated that the pretrial motion specifically objects to the arrest and search conducted by police at his client’s residence. According to the court’s Case Tracking Information System, the pretrial motion is registered under number 99/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL, dated 22 June 2026. The defendants named in the motion include the Government of Indonesia, represented by the Metro Jaya Police Chief, the Director of General Criminal Investigation, the Head of the State Security Sub-Directorate, the investigation team, and the Attorney General’s Office. The lawsuit questions the legality of the forced arrest and the search carried out by investigators from the State Security Sub-Directorate. Information circulated earlier from the Advocacy Team Against the Criminalisation of Academics and Activists stated that Roy Suryo Notodiprojo was arrested by Polda Metro Jaya investigators at his home on Friday, while the Tifa Doctor Defence Team reported that doctor Tifa was arrested by police at her apartment on the same morning.
