Roy Suryo Undergoes Pretrial Hearing at South Jakarta District Court

Jakarta - Roy Suryo, a suspect in an alleged defamation case regarding the authenticity of former President Joko Widodo’s diploma, attended a pretrial hearing at the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday. The session was originally scheduled for 09.00 WIB but was postponed until 13.00 WIB. Roy expressed gratitude for the delay, as it allowed him to attend the first hearing of his friend, Tifauzia Tyassuma, at the East Jakarta District Court. He arrived at the court at 10.28 WIB wearing a dark blue shirt and a black suit. The former Youth and Sports Minister is challenging the legality of his arrest and detention, claiming the process was not conducted according to proper procedure. The main case against Roy Suryo has been transferred by the prosecutor’s office to the East Jakarta District Court, with the case file declared complete on 23 June 2026, but the trial cannot proceed pending the outcome of the pretrial motion.
