Roy Suryo Supports JK's Report, Calls for Transparency on Degree Evidence
Roy Suryo’s legal team, representing the suspect in the case of alleged defamation and slander regarding the fake degree of the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has responded to the report filed by the 10th and 12th Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK), with the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency. They fully support this legal action as a means of clarification in the public sphere concerning the alleged slander and defamation by Rismon Sianipar. This support was conveyed by Ahmad Khozinudin, Roy Suryo’s lawyer, when he visited the Metro Jaya Regional Police to fulfil his client’s mandatory reporting obligation. ‘We support what Mr JK has reported,’ said Ahmad Khozinudin at the Metro Jaya Regional Police on Thursday (9/4). Ahmad considers this polemic to be the right momentum to resolve the issue openly. He suggests that the degree documents at the core of the problem should be shown to the public immediately for information certainty. On that occasion, Ahmad also claimed that his side had directly viewed the degree documents that are now evidence in the investigation process. Based on that observation, he stated there are irregularities that strengthen his client’s suspicions. ‘From that observation, we assess there are irregularities that reinforce the suspicion of issues with those documents,’ he continued. Although they have their own assessment of the existing evidence, Roy Suryo’s side states they still respect the authority of the authorities in testing the validity of the documents. They fully surrender the proof mechanism to law enforcement officials. They hope this case can be handled transparently and professionally in accordance with applicable legal provisions, to end the commotion in society.
