Roy Suryo Speaks After Being Awarded Rp5 Million in Compensation

Roy Suryo has spoken out after his pre-trial lawsuit was partially granted by the sole judge of the South Jakarta District Court (PN).

“First of all, praise and gratitude be to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, who today has delivered a final ruling through the very beautiful pre-trial decision of sole judge Ketut Darmawan,” Roy said at the South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (15/9).

Roy said he had no issue with the amount of compensation awarded. In its ruling, the judge decided the compensation to be paid would be Rp5 million.

“We are not at all troubled by it, and in fact we are grateful,” he said.

Roy also said the compensation money he received would later be donated. However, he has yet to reveal who the money would be donated to.

“We are doing this for society, for the people. And we have never forgotten our promise. Although, apologies, the amount is Rp5 million, we will later arrange the mechanism of which foundation or association will receive it. Not a single rupiah will go to us, none at all,” he said.

Previously, the sole judge of the South Jakarta District Court, I Ketut Darmawan, partially granted the pre-trial lawsuit filed by Roy Suryo regarding his claim for compensation.

“Granting the applicant’s pre-trial petition in part,” Ketut said at the hearing at the South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (15/9).

“Second, awarding immaterial compensation to the applicant in the amount of Rp5 million,” he continued.
