Roy Suryo Shouts 'Merdeka!' While Being Escorted to South Jakarta Prosecutor's Office

A shout of ‘merdeka!’ (freedom) came from Roy Suryo as officers escorted him to a vehicle bound for the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari) on Monday morning (22/6/2026). Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa were undergoing the second stage of case transfer over accusations of a fake diploma belonging to the 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Based on detikcom’s observation, Roy Suryo was brought from the Detention and Evidence Directorate (Dittahti) of the Metro Jaya Regional Police. Roy appeared to be wearing batik as he exited the detention area.

Amid the officers’ guard, Roy Suryo briefly shouted encouragement to the residents present. Meanwhile, Dr Tifa, who walked alongside him, chose to remain silent and did not utter a single word.

‘Keep up the spirit. Merdeka!’ yelled Roy Suryo.

Afterwards, Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa were transported by car to the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office to undergo the stage two handover process.

Previously, the case files for Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa in the case of the alleged fake diploma of the 7th President Joko Widodo were scheduled for stage two handover today. In this process, the suspects and evidence are handed over to the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office.

Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa had been taken to the Metro Jaya Police detention centre on Sunday evening (21/6).

‘The latest update is that suspects Tifa and Roy S will be moved from Kramat Jati Police Hospital tonight and lodged at the Metro Jaya Police Detention Centre,’ said Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto when contacted by journalists on Sunday (21/6).

Budi said investigators had previously been coordinating with the Kramat Jati Police Hospital regarding the transfer of both suspects to the Metro Jaya Police Detention Centre. Following that, Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa were scheduled to be handed over to the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office today at 09:00 WIB.

‘Next, tomorrow (today) at 09:00 in the morning, they will depart together from the Regional Police to the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office for stage two,’ he stated.
