Roy Suryo Responds to Rismon's Request for Restorative Justice in Jokowi Diploma Case: I Am Praying

Roy Suryo has commented on the restorative justice (RJ) request filed by Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar in the case alleging that the seventh President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), holds a fraudulent diploma.

“I am praying that our friend Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar be given guidance by Allah the Almighty, given enlightenment, and given the best outcome for him,” Roy told journalists at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Thursday (12 March).

Roy Suryo also affirmed that he and Tifauzia Tyassuma (Dr Tifa) would continue pursuing the diploma case.

“I spoke with Dr Tifa yesterday, even via video call, and we stated that we will not retreat even 0.1 per cent. Why 0.1 per cent? Because that is the remainder from 99.9 per cent, so we will not back down,” he said.

Roy’s legal counsel, Refly Harun, stated that his team was unaware of Rismon’s RJ request before learning about it through media reports.

“We only became aware of it through media coverage. However, we naturally respect the steps taken by our principal, whatever they may be, as long as they are within the legal framework,” Refly said.

Refly acknowledged that his team has not yet been able to communicate with Rismon to enquire about the reasons for the RJ request.

“Unfortunately, until now we have not been able to communicate with Rismon Sianipar. We cannot make any decisions yet,” Refly stated.

“Our concern is the most important question: when he filed or requested Restorative Justice, was he acting of his own free will, or was he under pressure?” he added.

Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar has submitted a restorative justice request in the case alleging that Jokowi possesses a fraudulent diploma. According to Metro Jaya Police’s Criminal Investigation Director Kombes Iman Imanuddin, Rismon and his legal representative submitted the RJ facilitation request to investigators about a week ago.

On Wednesday (11 March), Rismon and his lawyer returned to Metro Jaya Police Headquarters to enquire about the follow-up to the RJ request. Iman stated that investigators, acting as facilitators, are currently processing Rismon’s RJ petition.

“As facilitators, the investigators have undertaken and are continuing efforts to facilitate the request submitted by the suspect RHS,” Iman said.
