Roy Suryo Responds to Resmon Sianipar's Restorative Justice Request in Jokowi Diploma Case: We Will Not Back Down
A telematician involved in the alleged fake diploma case concerning former Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Roy Suryo has responded to the restorative justice request submitted by Resmon Sianipar to Metro Jaya Police.
Roy Suryo stated that he would not withdraw from the case regarding the alleged fake diploma involving Jokowi despite having been named a suspect. He also expressed no emotional reaction to Resmon Sianipar’s decision to pursue restorative justice, saying that disappointment should be set aside.
“Is there any change in position regarding the statement already made by Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar? No, we are saying we will not back down even 0.1 per cent,” Suryo said in Jakarta on Thursday (12 March).
“We will continue forward; if perhaps a friend feels uncomfortable, that is fine,” said Roy Suryo.
He also invited any party wishing to re-examine the case regarding Jokowi’s allegedly fake diploma to do so.
Metro Jaya Police have thus far designated several suspects including Roy Suryo, Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar, and Tifauzia Tyassuma.
Roy Suryo’s legal representative Refly Harun stated he was unaware of the restorative justice request submitted by Rismon. He said they respected the decision provided it followed proper legal procedures.
He said he had not yet met with Resmon Sianipar and did not know the reasons behind the restorative justice application.
“We only learned about this through media reporting. We respect the steps taken by our principal,” said Refly.
