Roy Suryo Reported to Police by Gibranisti Chairman Over UNJ Doctoral Degree

Roy Suryo has once again been reported to the police, this time for alleged defamation and slander against Gibranisti Chairman Taufik Bilfaqih at the South Jakarta Police. Taufik, known as Bill, filed the report against Roy Suryo on Thursday (16/7). Bill’s report is recorded under number LP/B/2805/VII/SPKT/POLRES METRO JAKARTA SELATAN. Bill claimed he was slandered by Roy Suryo during a recent press conference regarding the validation of Roy Suryo’s doctoral degree at the State University of Jakarta (UNJ). ‘So it is related to defamation, insult, my honour, my dignity, which was then glorified by the person concerned, making people judge me as a slanderer, a liar, a hoax spreader. Well, I do not accept this,’ said Bill after filing the report at the South Jakarta Metro Police on Thursday. He admitted to having investigated Roy Suryo’s student status at the State University of Jakarta (UNJ). However, according to Bill, Roy Suryo reacted in a way that cornered him. ‘Because of his clarification about UNJ, we increasingly found many irregularities, including his statements which were perhaps slip-ups,’ he said. ‘And I also see that sometimes it is not just a slip-up, there is a mens rea element. Moreover, he accused me, he slandered me by saying I slandered him. He accused me of accusing him of having a fake diploma,’ he continued.
