Roy Suryo Registers Third Pre-Trial Motion at South Jakarta District Court

Roy Suryo’s legal team officially registered a third pre-trial motion at the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday (16/7/2026). This legal action was taken despite the fact that the ruling for his second pre-trial motion, which concerns his naming as a suspect, is only scheduled to be read out on Monday (20/7).

A member of Roy Suryo’s legal team, Gofur, confirmed that all administrative matters for the case have been processed by the court. He stated that a case registration number has been issued, a single judge has been appointed, and the trial schedule for this third motion has been released. The legal team is still keeping the specific object of this latest challenge confidential, with Gofur noting that a detailed explanation will be provided by Refly Harun at the appropriate time. He emphasised that the move does not breach the ne bis in idem principle because the object of the lawsuit differs from the previous motions.

Echoing his legal counsel, Roy Suryo stated that this third pre-trial motion is connected to the outcome of the first pre-trial, which was previously granted by the judge. He is optimistic about achieving a similar result. Roy Suryo is currently awaiting the legal certainty from his second pre-trial, which challenges the validity of his suspect status by the Polda Metro Jaya in a case involving an alleged violation of Article 32 paragraph (1) of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law.
